CoBaMo

COOKIE

So, NaNoWriMo… yeah, that didn’t go over as well as I’d planned. I topped out somewhere around 20k, but I don’t consider it a failure. It’s twenty thousand more words I thought I’d write this month, and I’m farther into two stories. I acknowledge I don’t write at ludicrous speed, but NaNoWriMo at least let me know I have the ability if there aren’t too many hands on my time.

This means for December I’ll finish Geek Overboard in the serialized format, and I’ll still chip away on a new romance, now titled Designs on Him. I’m still waiting to hear on Finish What You Started from the houses who still have it in their queues. I’m nowhere close to nudging time there, so I won’t worry yet. I also have a shorter story planned for an anthology, and will detail it later.

I’ve reserved the next month as Cookie Baking Month, too. I didn’t do much in the way of holiday baking last year, mainly because A) I kept worrying about my ass growing, and B) Certain people saw fit to remind me of its current size. You know what, though? F*** all that. It’s been an emotional 2015. My kidlet moved up to middle school, everybody’s a USA Today bestseller except me, and the other day I clicked a link and somebody spoiled this season of Doctor Who for me. Even though I still have it much better than others, I AM EATING SOME DAMN COOKIES.

Chips ahoy

Usually I bake a batch of one style for everybody to eat. Only problem with that is we have one finicky eater and one who’ll eat anything that isn’t poisoned. Between the two of them, I don’t get any cookies. This year, everybody in the house gets his/her own:

Mister gets (by request) – Dark chocolate chip with oats and walnuts

Kidlet gets – Classic chocolate chip, no surprises

Mama gets – Bourbon dark chocolate chip

In addition, I’ll bake Oatmeal Scotchies, which are kind of a holiday thing around here, and chocolate cookies with chocolate and peanut butter chips. I got the dark corn syrup and pecans thinking I’d make a pie as well, but I might praline those suckers instead.

Hers & His

Once everything’s cooled, they’ll go into their respective cookie jars. Kidlet doesn’t have one, so I suspect hers will end up in a Glad throwaway container I’ll find three months from now under her bed, along with a smattering of  crumbs and parts to a Monster High doll.

Will there be enough to swap? Uh, get back to me.

  1. Personally after all those yummy cookies you listed I go for the pecan pie. Rich and decadent and you can add chocolate if you want and top it with whipped cream or ice cream. I say if your going to indulge go all the way and enjoy!
